Post Holiday

Hey all, finally back to Aussie after 2 weeks in Malaysia and Singapore. It has been a week since I got back and still missing Asia (family, friends and food). I go back almost every year but this year I did not only go back for the Chinese New Year, but also to expand my business in Asia! I will do a separate post on my trip and how I turn a dream come true.

I did not do much shopping in Asia as much as I thought I would though. Anyways, I got this new camera lens that I was desperate to try out, so my sister and I decided to take some ootd photos. I got this outfit from Singapore (Top: Forever 21 and Skirt: H&M). Both my top and skirt total up to be around $30aud which is pretty cheap.

I am into stripes this season, like no joke! I have them from sleeveless to long sleeves and from skirts to dresses. Name it and I will have it in my closet. They just go well with almost everything which is why I love!

The thing I love about skater skirts is that it is a 4 season staple piece. I can pair it with leggings during winter and wear it on it's own during summer, spring and autumn! I have almost every colour you can find in the market (call me crazy).

An old clutch from Ted Baker - still my fav to date! You will never go wrong with black.

Question I get asked alot:  'Äre you sure you are in the fashion industry? You dress way too simple, people would never guess you work in the fashion field'.

Good or bad? I don't know.

XOXO beauties!

Life As a Fashion Marketer

Blazer: Thea by Thara
Pants: So in Style
Top: So in Style

Hello everyone! Today's post is about me making a huge step in my career.

People ask me, what do you do after quitting your job? My reply: I do what I love doing. As simple as that. It really isn't about how much I earn, it was more of how much I am learning through the things that made me happy :) I don't want to be spending the rest of my life doing something I don't enjoy just for money. Yea sure, money is important but it isn't everything.

Before giving up my full time job, I really had such a tough time thinking if I made the right choice. Hell YEAH I did! Anyways, I did think about if I quit, I would have no more income. However, I did save up for those years that I was working. So all good!

Here are a few things of what people think about my job and some frequent questions:

1) People think my job is like going shopping *fun and no worries*

People look at me and say omg your job seems so fun, you are surrounded with new clothes everyday! Actual fact: Yes it is fun, but at the same time stressful and mentally tiring. *Tired in a good way*. As a fashion marketer, it is definitely not as easy as you think. To be honest, fashion is not my passion. There is so many things that I think it is so pretty, but it is not something I would wear. I watch runway shows and go, 'hmm, gorgeous dress, but still prefer my slouchy top'.

2) People think my job let's me travel the world

I do wish that is the case. Not really though, I do travel but not really relaxing. I went to Thailand recently for business and it was fun, but did not have much time for myself. After all, it is a business trip.

3)  Why don't you find a 9am-5pm job?

Hello! I work from 9am to 8pm, or sometimes till 11pm (I do have breaks in between btw). I do not have to be sitting in a 20th floor office to be working 9-5 right? Typical asian mindset: ' Find a good company to work for in the future'. So glad I have supportive parents! There's a huge difference between working for people and working for yourself. See, the thing about my job is that it is time flexible. I can do what ever I need to do according to my own time plan.

4) Are you not afraid that your business will fail?

Of course I am! Human nature to be afraid of failing no? I guess I believe in myself and my own capability. Have not regretted anything so far and all is going according to plan. You think that working for a company guarantee you won't get retrench or fired? Are you afraid of getting retrench or fired? Same concept applies. I don't have to worry about getting fired unless I fire myself.. hmmm.. which won't happen :) To be honest, I'm a risk taker, I love doing something challenging and that is what makes me stronger.

Ok! Now, I'll just tell you guys what the difference is between me and my friends who are now working in big firms.

So, I went back to Malaysia a couple of months ago and catched up with a few old friends. I asked how are they coping with their jobs (mainly in Ernst and Young, or some marketing firm). All of them replied, ' Don't ask, I prefer not to talk about it'. 'Every day work until can die! No OT pay somemore' Everyday must submit report etc etc (speaking in Malaysian slang). Like what?! Why so sad??? When my friends ask me the same question, I have so much to say about what I do. What's life if it is so boring and non interesting?

Here are just some photos of me in my casual outfit.
I don't usually wear printed pants, cause I thought I look funny. I prefer one coloured pants, but I think I need to step out of my comfort zone and start wearing something different. These pants are actually so airy and comfy! I don't look that weird in it right?

This was random, I asked my sis to take a photo of me sitting on this bench and didn't really know how to pose. So yea awkward pose. But this is the closet pic of the printed pants. Didn't bother editing this photo too.

Lastly, a candid shot. :)

Lace details

Dress: Rosyruby.com (Isabel lace dress)
Shoes: Zara

Lace midi has been quite popular so I decided to do a post on it. Everyone know I'm not tall, and short people don't pull off midi's well! I'm abit on the edge with this one, I thought the dress made me look like I have a broader shoulder (which I do) and also make me look shorter (That's how I felt looking in the mirror). BUT! when I look at these photos I thought I look alright and it is something I would wear to weddings and other special occasion. Hmm, so I'm not too sure about this, but let me know in the comment box :)
*Details of the lace! So gorgeous!
Just to show you the beautiful view up at the mountain.

Oh, and I have not cut my hair for nearly a year hence why it's this long! Time to cut it off, you will probably see me in short hair in a next few posts.

Tuesday: Black and White

Top: Twosisters label
Pants: Uniqlo (hands down my fav)
Shoes: Sportsgirl

Thinking of what to wear to work can be a job itself. I always dress as comfortable as possible to work without being under dress or overdress.

Some tips to keep in mind when you're looking for a corporate wear:
1) Go for basic tees or tanks which can be worn over and over again. Top I'm wearing has a buckle on the side which gave a plain top some extra details.
2) If you like prints, go for a nice print that is stylish yet subtle. Not something too much.
3) If you are wearing a plain tee, a printed bottom would be nice. (I don't have much printed bottoms, hence I decided to wear my everyday pants)
4) Try vibrant colours (I would have wore a red blazer over this outfit)

Snuggle up!

This photo was actually a candid test shot photo and I thought it had a 'Winter Sonata' feel to it, or maybe it's just me LOL. Adelaide's weather have been up and down lately, sometimes it goes as low as 2 degrees and high to about 17 degrees (in the city) during winter. It was about 12 degrees when this shoot was taken but then it got extremely windy! Anyways, I decided to do a winter styling for you guys!

Beanie: Sportsgirl
Knitted sweater: Rosyruby upcoming
Bottoms: Uniqlo
Boots: Jeffrey Campbell look alike :)
Photographer: Norman Chai
Just a close up of this big fluffy knit. Snuggle up for the cold weather!

One of the most comfortable heels owned! Hands down! What shoes look good, make you look tall and comfy? This pair of boots is the bomb! I can run and jump in it without feeling any pain. The shoe is cushion inside and the platform definitely helps with comfort. The off shoulder knitted sweater is free size, that's why it look super big and loose on me. BUT! it is meant to be baggy so works well with me. You can wear this top as normal without pulling it off shoulder as well, if you don't like showing too much skin.
* This would have been a nicer photo if my hair wasn't in my face!

Photos were taken by a high school friend of mine (as credited above). Thank you Norman for the photos. Hope both you and Tiff have a safe flight back to Malaysia! Will see you guys soon!

Confidence

Dress: Rosyruby.com
Makeup: Stephanie Law www.makeupenvivified.com
Photographer: Michael Boon

Ok, so why the awkward pose? I was told by the photographer and director (my sister) that I was not elegant or 'modelly' enough in my photos. I guess I'm the type that prefer to wear shorts/pants over dresses therefore elegant is never in my blood. Don't get me wrong, I do love dresses and skirts but I choose comfort most of the time. So this is probably the best of the lot already. They took some inspired modelling photos and MADE me follow the poses (I had cramps on my waist after this pose LOL). Nevertheless, it was an extremely fun shoot, doing things out of my comfort zone.

This shoot was done when I was back in Kuching, Malaysia (my hometown <3) during the Chinese New Year. I did this shoot because my bestie (aka my makeup artist) wanted to start her career in make up, but did not know where to start and had no confident in chasing her dream to become a makeup artist. I knew all along make up was her dream and she is extremely talented (as you can see), so I decided to drag her out of her comfort zone. I volunteered to be her 'model' so she can have some photos on her portfolio (At least it is a start!). So everyone! Be Confident and Believe in Yourself is the first step to success.
*Real life I not so chio one* make up can change a person's look completely. This requires skills!
*One of my top picks of the whole 600 over photos?

A close up of my makeup. I was kinda shock initially how thick my make up was, but in photos so freaking amazing. (No edit to the makeup, I only brighten the pic)
 Director say walk you walk!
Off to the next destination! Abit of what 's behind the scene. We just chuck everything on the floor and people were starring at me. They gave me the 'why are you wearing like that in broad daylight face'. Will be posting more photos of my shoot with makeupenvivified and more behind the scene photo with the crew. Keep posted!

Casual Street Style

Top: Rosyruby.com
Jeggings: Uniqlo
Shoes: Sportsgirl
Bag: Forever new

My first thought of this top was 'hmm, looks baggy and I would probably look old in it'. I tried it on anyways and I actually really like it. It is definitely loose fitted which is good for summer and you can layer it up for winter. I love the fact that the top is not boring and have that drape detail in the front. The jeggings that I am wearing is one of the BEST pants that I owned. I owned 5 colours (black, khaki green, maroon, white, Navy). Yes! That is how much I love this pair of jegging. The fit is perfect and it gives me shape. I have heaps on jeans that once worn a couple of times, it becomes loose and make me look like some construction worker with big loose pants. I rave about this jeggings because I've worn it almost everyday now since it is winter and it still maintain its shape!

Outside some random cafe shop in Dulwich
These shoes are the most comfy heels that I bought. Perfect height for shopping, that won't kill your feet. Padded all over the sole area so thumbs up!

*Side details of the top

Close up of the top (I would use a pin for this though, to prevent exposing anything :)
